I'm listening to it now, on Drunkship of Lanterns. Man, this brings me back to the good ol' smoking and listening to mars volta days.

I HIGHLY doubt the Mars Volta will ever match this. I haven't listened to Octahedron yet, though.

They've tried 4 times and haven't really come close.

Yeah I think Frances the Mute and De Loused in the Comatorium are The Mars Volta at their best. The single from the new one, since we were wrong I think it's called, just doesn't have that Mars Volta flavor. However, I have learned not to judge the Mars Volta by one song, so we'll see.

Frances The Mute. Octahedron is pretty close as well.

The 17 minutes of added running time on Frances is all stuff where nothing interesting happens and/or ambiance. Octahedron isn't close either.

Both are great, but none of them dont come anywhere close to touching this.

Cicatriz has like 6 minutes of ambience.. But honestly I love the ambience, how it gets all quiet and then slowly builds up till it

Since We Were Wrong is not related to the rest of that album in any way.

...fair enough.

But it might as well have been called that.
