Saw these guys in a tiny art gallery in KC last week. They were great, but the vocals needed to be way louder. I was standing four feet away from the lead singer and could barely make them out.

I've seen like 100 live videos of these guys and this could not be more true. It's a struggle to hear Dave at all.

Tried listening to this several times, but I get annoyed and give up each time. It's just so bullshitty and pretentious and intent on patting itself on the back. I mean, they're clearly having fun but that doesn't make them any more likable for it.

Hipster is possibly the word.

I don't see how that is pretentious or hipster in anyway. Like I said in the other thread, part of what twinkly emo enjoyable is that they dont take themselves so seriously but aren't instrumentally incompetent. I don't know why people are so quick to latch that description onto any "indie-like" music that they aren't themselves familiar with.

...I am pretty familiar with this type of music.

The name alone is pretentious, and the lyrics are mostly stupid instead of poetic. I dunno, it just stinks of douchebags and rich kids, which is probably irrational I know, but it's a vibe I just can't shake off.

Well besides anything else, having now listened to the album I am now familiar with it. Bit of a weird argument to make.

These guys are opening up for Brand New for a few shows, hoping I can get backstage through a mutual friend that knows them
