The original version of Viva Emptiness had a rough, raw simplicity to it. It was perfect as it was. In the remixed version every part has been polished, then a 100 new unnecessary elements slotted in to all the spaces that's been left from that over-polishing. And for all the clarity in the music the album supposedly now has, the vocals have been pushed right back and lost all of its effectiveness.
Shitty shitty shitty remix.

Can't take any Debbie downer nonsense when it comes to what will be an incredible ten year edition of this album.

Well this one wasn't good to begin with, so my guess is that it would be the same or worse.

Night is the New Day is not best Katatonia

Maybe the new 5.1 mix will make me appreciate this more. It won't magically make it a more creative or less repetitive album though. Then again when Soil's Song clicked it became a personal favorite out of emotive power alone so who knows

It seems nonsensical and fruitless to compare Katatonia albums.
