Interestingly enough, RtL and MoP have tied avgs, while the latter has more votes. Why is this so?

RTL and MOP are probably best but I've preferred this recently

Because a lot of people don't know Ride the Lightning as well as MoP unfortunately. They're both tied for me honestly

MOP gets much more exposure in mainstream media. Like this book I have of "1000 Recordings To Hear Before You Die" has Puppets. It's like Metallica's Darkside I guess. Though I agree RTL is just as good.

Tbh, every one of their first 4 records is tied with a 4.5 for me

RTL and MOP are basically tied for me.

Yeah for different reasons, RTL is thrashier and crazier but MOP is proggier and better made
|
| |
Yeah basically, if I'm in a m/ mood I'll jam RTL, if I'm more in a listening mood I'll jam MOP

MoP really isn't that much 'proggier' than RtL.

Yeah it is almost half the songs are 8+ minutes and it's more complex
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
those two albums are basically equivalent in terms of songwriting and placement of the songs. maybe MoP is a bit more 'proggier' than RTL, but not by much. the only big difference is that Disposable Heroes and Leper Messiah are a lot better (and more complex if you will) than Trapped Under Ice and Escape. therefore: MoP > RTL
this album still kinda follows that song-placement pattern, but the songwriting isn't that similar anymore
