yeah, but to be fair they constantly reinvented themselves moving forward, so let's just call this one an aberration

not that it's bad or anything, I actually quite enjoy this on occasion. Admittedly don't revisit it much though

The album is great despite some similarities with their debut. It may not be as a classic as almost all their works, but the tunes are memorable and enduring and it’s full of great songs. Besides, it has some of the jazzier and avant-garde tones that they would start to use on “Lizard” and “Islands”.

So, this isn't merely a clone of their debut.

@e210013: Yeah, I never quite understood why people just call this a clone of ItCotCK. You'd never find something like Cat Food or Devil's Triangle on the debut tbh

prob bc pictures of a city sounds extremely similar to 21st century schizoid man
and t/t sounds extremely similar to epitaph

having two songs that sound incredibly alike two songs on a previous album is noteworthy i think

Maybe yes. This is the reason why I only gave it a 4.0. But this isn't enough to consider it a clone.

Love this one so much honestly. Yes it's a second attempt at In the Court but it's so tight (and well recorded to boot) that I don't see it as a bad thing, especially considering that it gave them the chance to make a full record in which Moonchild doesn't take up 12 mins of runtime (and I say it as a fan of it, mind you). Not to mention Cat Food and Devil's Triangle which are original ideas.

Also the last minute and a half of Cadence and Cascade is something else

I though it was my 1st listen, but saw I had it rated before deleting, so might be 2nd listen.

Yes, t/t is similar to Epitaph, but still.

Even if this was a rip-off, it'd be hard for most bands to rip themselves off this good.

King Crimson is too much good and professional to cheat and would never do that. I'm sure about that.

Cadence and Cascade is crazy good and real big improvement over Moonchild. For all of the Pictures of a City lovers check out the live version they added to the expanded Court album called A Man A City. The instrumentation is way harsher and exuberant on that version, very interesting comparison
