Yeah bro, Red and In The court are still my favorites, but Lizard is a close third. For all the reasons e21 explained so beautifully. I love that KC is such a chameleon, I wouldn't want them to sound like KC always.

Btw gave Islands two spins last night due to postings here, and it is so freaking good. I think it would make a good album to introduce someone who isn'tinto more complex/ proggy stuff to this kind of music.

I agree with you, Don. Red and In The Court are my favorites too.
About Islands, I always had a certain love for that album, despite I think that it has the weakest King Crimson line up, but I don't have problems with it. I also think it's an excellent introducing for newbies in prog. Besides, it's one my oldest vinyl records. And I love its cover.

mmm for me there are plenty of KC records I would rank lower: Beat, Three, Power, Thrak as well as Starless and Wake. Discipline, Construkction and Larks tongues for me are in the same tier as Islands. So it sits right in the middle I think. Maybe a bit above that.

Maybe I agree with you at a certain point. Beat is clearly my less favourite. All the others mentioned by you are probably, tecnically speaking, at the same level of Islands. Still, Islands is probably the album, of those mentioned by you, which I have more pleasure to listen to nowdays, appart Wake.

I'm a big fan of the first and last songs on here, everything in the middle a bit less so. feel the exact same about Lizard actually

A more reasonable opinion where Lizard is concerned me thinks. This is secretly one of the best KC albums.

thank you for giving your opinion on my opinion

I dunno, Lizard is a banger from beginning to end. Happy Family, Indoor Games and Lady of The Dancing Water all rule and are imprescindible to set the surreal tone of Lizard.

As I mentioned sometimes in my comments about Lizard, I think Lizard is a very difficult album to get into. It's, in my opinion, the most difficult work of them. It needs a lot of listening and patience to fully appreciate it. I myself, only a few years ago I could do it.
