ugh this band

Right along with the majority of Gojira's other work; the album in its entirety isn't out of this world fan-tucking-fastic, but several solid songs and a distinctly heavy sound very unlike contemporaries makes for a hell of an album. On first listen it is easily a solid 4, but I know for a fact that with familiarity I will jack this up to a near-5. 4.3/5

Yeah, From Mars to Sirius is their best IMO as well. Just noticed I have Way of All Flesh rated higher than this album, which is a mistake- this one unexpectedly grew on me because on the first few listens it definitely didnt sound like a 'grower'

Toxic Garbage Island is the reason.

And Oroborous...and Art of Dying
But still, I think this album is more consistent and I find myself listening to it much more frequently

This is on par with TWoaF.

I do kind of wish this had longer songs but thats just cause I'm greedy
|
| |
I'm glad they aren't as long. When Gojira has long songs it usually means like 2 minutes of the same riff repeated over and over

Wolf Down the Earth and Vacuity. Don't forget those

Toxic Garbage Island is probably their best song

True they are more concise which is great, but this is missing an epic quality that gojira has had for the past two albums...not like it effects my opinion on this album all that much, it's still probably right under from mars to Sirius for me

Flying whales is the best imo

I like Toxic the most because it pretty much sums up Gojira in one song
