Yeah and that counterpoint moment when Wilson sings "lies are manifold and the truth is told" in Drag Ropes is just pure gold

Drag Ropes has one of the best outros on the album, it's one of the best examples of sounding like nothing Akerfeldt or Wilson have ever done before

Yeah well it seems Akerfeldt and Wilson are very good at writing outros. Best ending on this is Happy's ending imo... (I mean the acoustic guitar/vocals part, not the weird noises at the end)

Been jamming this again lately. Good shit, I like that it's not just the safe prog both have a tendency to play with their own bands these days.

Drag Ropes' intro and Ljudet's gorgeous atmospheric section are the strongest moments of this album. Brilliant album overall, hope they make a follow up

Easily the best thing Wilson has been involved with in 15+ years.

It's different and interesting, pretty much the only thing he's done that I can say that about. Not to mention that it's far more emotionally engaging than anything else I can think of that Wilson's been involved in.

Just because it doesn't rock or have riffs doesn't mean it sucks ;)

There are a lot of people on the site who don't seem to understand this

Agreed completely JT. I love how eerie and ethereal this sounds, and it proves that the two can write

great music without their usual weird riffing/songwriting. My only complaint is that there's not

enough of Akerfeldt singing

Yeah I agree about the lack of Akerfeldt's vocals. Doesn't hold the album back too much though. Wilson's vocals are surprisingly effective on some parts, which is especially surprising seeing as I'm ususally not a fan of his voice at all.

Yeah he's at least as good on here as he is on almost any PT album if not better

I disagree completely. Take Fear of a Blank Planet for example, that's a very solid release, better than this record.

This album is great anyway.

Fear of a Blank Planet is fucking awful.

Wilson's vox on here are definitely much better than they are on most PT albums.

FOABP is one of my favorite PT records, but I respect your opinion. Regardless, I do agree that - even though I love PT - Wilson's vocals really aren't that great

I haven't heard 90's PT yet so I can't speak to those albums but while I love Lightbulb Sun-FOABP (The

Incident wasn't bad but not amazing either), I think I prefer this a little more

I seriously don't understand how anyone could not like FOABP. Like I said, I haven't heard 90's PT yet

but FOABP is easily their best 2000's album. Maybe tied with In Absentia
