Not an easy watch, but I think an important one, for fans of this band.

Posted under this album, as they clearly mention it as Brent's creative peak.

Ugh that was a rough watch, and it's making this a rough listen right now.

Kinda played out how you expected it played out, but still pretty sad. Respect to the guys for being so real about it. It’s not black and white shit, you can love someone and be done with them. Troy telling the story of Brent leaving the band meeting being the last time he saw him, and him thinking there’d be a day where they’d all make up, hit me in the gut

Also in case people forgot the guy who knocked Brent out and gave him a concussion at the VMAs was the bassist from SOAD

It was hard to watch, but I guess it was necessary to give closure to everything regarding Brent.

The song "Gigantium" hits way harder now. 100% about Brent

it wasnt. it was some rapper that the soad bassist was hanging out with.

Maybe. It happens a lot where people are totally convinced a song is about one thing and then the musician(s) speak on it and it turns out to be something else. There are four guys in this band with whole lives outside of just Mastodon, so it could be about someone else.

i remember reading a long time ago that it was a SOAD guy too, maybe some music journalists ran the wrong story for awhile

That whole album was about their manager dying. I would say theres probably some crossover with Brent though.

just watched the vid, and yeah it's pretty much how I thought the story would go. it seems like everyone, myself included, saw Brent's departure from the band as a kind of rock bottom for him to get his act together, and that they'd reconcile eventually. that's what makes his passing so tragic. RIP man.
