These Walls has an amazing intro and outro. Sadly, that's all that can be said for that song

No song on here is good from beginning to end. They all have their awkward parts.

The root of all evil is better than as I am at least in terms of their dumb heavy songs

They seemed to try too hard to have a hit with "I Walk Beside You." Why didn't they use a similar formula as "Pull Me Under" to meet that goal?

I just thought I Walk Beside You was Petrucci (because it wasn't Portnoy) being lazy and putting forward some half arsed song, whereas Pull Me Under comes across as something that was more thought out

It's basically a U2 ripoff whereas pull me under is an amazing prog metal song

Clouds go by and I roll with them.
Laughed pretty hard when i first heard that

Why?

Too bad that they never learned to write better lyrics even 20 years later, in fact they're probably worse now
|

Yeah if you think the "clouds go by..." line is laughable I can't imagine how terrible you must find their lyrics these days.

I did like their lyrics on Scenes from a Memory and the Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence epic though.

What Snowdog says. I think DT suit more serious lyrical themes or stuff like Endless Sacrifice, which I find so poetic

But you took the lyrics out of the context of the epic about the six people with disorders.

I'm aware of the context. It doesn't make it any less amusing, though.
