Actually I'm fine with the vocals, partially because I listen to a lot of core and prog music with high vocalists. But seriously, the note that he hits in "Pattern Interrupt"....auto-fucking-tune, man.

i think that a lot of people don't like them because of the way they are produced

i think another reason that a lot of people don't like them is because of how they perceive their purpose. erra has never come across to me as a band that just throws in cleans just to have them unlike bands like we came as romans

it's really a love it or hate it type thing

"Why does every scene band have the same horrible fake sounding drums"

You can blame that on the producer and mixer, in this case. The guy who did it runs it all electronically: triggers and digital guitars which are re-amped. Never been a big fan of some of his stuff but he killed it here, in my opinion.

Well I'm not completely enraptured by the vocals. I feel like they're definitely overproduced, but I'm not gonna dismiss him as a bad singer quite yet. Sounds fine but not spectacular.

Yes. I'd be stoked on it no matter what just because personally I'm a huge fan of their instrumentation, and that's bigger for me in 'core, though.

I wonder if he'll lip-sync.

That would be gay as hell. But it would be impressive if he could sound like this live.

lol yeah holy shit. The chorus in "Pattern Interrupt". If I heard that live, and it was legit, I would probably crap myself.

I have. They actually played my band's demo release show about a year ago. They were quite good, but this was before they came out with Andromeda, so they weren't using too much singing. Here's a video of a recent show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khXWEDu1X78

You be the judge.

Clean vocals aren't bad or off-key or anything, but they just don't sound like they do on the album.

Yea. Considering what he's working with, he does a great job. Still....those high's just don't happen live, which shows a blatant case of over-production, but, hey, at least it sound good.

he's usually hits all of the notes. i mean not like every time, but most of them at the least when
i've seen them live.

which is a fair amount of times
