Exact same production too. I wish they changed that up at least.

Come on leak already...
I have a great deal of faith after those last few songs. The last one is a bit jarring but hopefully it flows well with the album.

GUYS ALBUM IS OUT (unofficially) AND IT'S SO SICK

Production sucks (can every djent band just get acle from tesseract or nolly to do their production?) considering it's way more dynamic and ambient than Februss the production does no favours and makes it all sound stale.
There's some really cool moments overall but it's not as good as this from the first few listens. "Your Scent" is fucking amazing!
My faves atm are; Alkaline Throat, The Bait and Your Scent. Those 3 songs are the best Uneven Structure have wrote to date.

Though I will say waiting 6 years for 9 songs is kinda shit.

what I'd heard from the new album was not good. Is is better than those weird hard rock songs they put out before?

You know, I actually kinda like the production here. Though obviously anything Acle would do would trump it. I think it's fine.
It's a bit jarring compared to Februus. I find it feels like a mix between the ideas presented in Februus and their remastered EP and...something...else? Less hypnotic chugging. More constantly-changing songs. And because they're paired in 3s, it really reminds me of the EP: I wish there were more definable "holy shit" moments and distinct songs.
Definitely seems like a grower from 1.5 listens. Gotta check it out again in my proper home headphones though. But I loooove what I've heard so far, as different as it is. I gotta 4 this ATM. It's gorgeous.

The production here is amazing I think.

One day before release is pretty damn good for a leak. Got Alkaline Throat on repeat m/
Excellent start, phenomenal finish but a weak middle full of wandering. There are moments in the album where all the sounds form into one sound, the bass is lost for the most part and it sounds muddy as hell when there's so much going on.

Its weird seeing these guys putting a new album out, this was my fav album oat for a while when i first was getting into heavier music. I have like a crazy amount of nostalgia towards this and seeing them put out an album now after my music taste has changed so much since then just feels kinda sad. Like id be so super hyped like 4 years ago but now its just, 'oh look that band i used to love is finally putting out their sophmore lp, neat'

Yeah they took way too long, I think the plan was to release it in 2015 but they weren't happy with it or so I read. In comparison Periphery have put 4 albums out before Uneven Structure made 1. If you still enjoy this then you'll enjoy the new one.

Don't have high hopes for the new one.

exactly how i feel tacos

Hmmmmm opinion changing after a few more listens on my good headphones. Mixing gets muddy sometimes with too many elements blending together.

It's very well wrote, I'm hearing a lot of reprises in the melodies and drum beats throughout. The vocal melody from the "This is my parade" line in The Bait (3:46) is a melody repeated in Our Embrace (4:15) and Your Scent (2:24).
The drum beat from 1:13 to 1:30 in Funambule is also in Succube @ 1:40 to 1:57.

Listening to the new one now, production is a little strange but not as bad as I was expecting. I'm over djent at this point but this was a such a favorite back in the day that I feel obligated.
Edit- Yeah I don't know, production is pretty bad. Reminds of the most recent chaos divine album were everything just felt like it had 0 weight to it.

Fuck I fell out of love with that fast. The mixing comes close to ruining it, but what I really dislike (in apparent disagreement with a lot of early impressions I've seen) is the lack of the atmosphere and ambience. The whole record is an ambiguous fever-dream slog through mud without a lot of landmarks along the way. A few cool moments on a few songs, but they're too few and far between.
I hope to slingshot back to loving it later. Had the same arc with Fallujah's Dreamless. Hopefully it's more of a grower than I thought.
