Like California?
|
| |
Or even better, Disco Volante
|
| |
No but in actuality the music is very good, even if a little... Safe, for what they did later, but the interludes are the absolute most fucking annoying thing I have heard in my life so yea once I cut them out everything was better

I really like the interludes, I think they're great :[
|
| |
Eh, they're just unnecessary to me really, I don't see how they relate to anything in any meaningful way and even when they do they're still overlong
Maybe I could've tried to not pay them mind without the one of some guy taking a shit

The main reason why I really like them is because it really adds to the filthy B/Z Movie vibe the album's got going for it. I agree that Egg's is too long and the shitting one is unnessacary but even that one I like because Bungle's immaturity on this album is part of the appeal for me.

Yea, I can see that. Bungle is one of those self-indulgent bands that shouldn't really work on paper because their ideas are so ludacris, but somehow they work (Similar case to anything else Mike Patton does), but there's always some type of limit.
But hey like I said, music itself is great

One of the reasons why I love Bungle, yet what make them a one of a kind in my eyes is that California is far more controlled and tame compared to their previous work (despite it being more 'out there' than 95+% of records) yet IMO it's their finest hour. Working the tightrope between accessability and refinment with experimental self-indulgence perfectly.

I don't see them as musically thrilling independently, out of context they're just nonsense, but within the album they're icing on the cake for me sonically and thematically
