still frequently played after ten years for me. funny how you branch off into listening to hardcore and grind and death metal stuff and you still always find your way back to stuff you listened to when you were 13.

^It's called nostalgia
Or regression, depending on the artist

You need to stop trying to fit bands into genres. You aren't good at it. Slipknot being death metal is laughable. Death metal is built upon heaviness, technicality, gutteral growls, and gorey lyrics. This album doesn't really have much of that.AND I didn't like it.

This album is timeless for me. It was the first real metal record I listened to and Slipknot opened me up to metal as a whole, so I could never hate this. When I first heard this years ago, I thought it was the heaviest shit in existence....but of course I discovered how wrong I was.

It'd be a 5 if I was 14 again lol
It brings back the memories though, still their best

Yeah it is, and their most original. I still really enjoy the style of this album, and Corey sounds really raw on this as opposed to the production on Vol. 3 or All Hope Is Gone.

This is the better of the three main albums.
Sentimental favorite, I guess.

CAUGHT ME, DAMN.
okay, four albums. Shows when I dropped this band from playlists.
MFKR would be five, but most people don't count or don't know of that one.

this guy who wrote this review knows exactly what he is talking about. he must be a true maggot. ya know, the maggot where he falls in love with the self-titled, still likes IOWA, likes most of Vol. 3, then loses all faith after the latest cd. but yea this cd is just a masterpiece. this isnt nu metal. this is death metal in my book

The only good album by Slipknot, impressive. The most aggressive and heavy nu-metal so far, even though I've gotten into more "true" metal, I still admire the other stuff. This is one amazing debut, even if this was the only good release with Corey

fucked up post
As I was saying, Slipknot ARE nu-metal, maybe not conforming to the complete norm. But they still are, and they are NOWHERE near death metal. And to whomever thinks Corey is a good lyricist, I only have one thing to say. "FUCK IT ALL. FUCK THIS WORLD. FUCK EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR!!!!"

too much love for this

Slipknot used to be that band that scared me because they were so heavy and I thought they were the most intense thing ever. And then I grew a pair and stopped exclusively listening to Metallica. Good times.
