So it's more similar to Rosetta, Achilles and Blindead than ISIS? Nothing wrong with that, really, just want to know what I'm in for :p

it's like converge + underoath + post-metal.. sorta. it's hard to describe, just give it a listen. it'll be more than worth your time.

and since when are blindead and rosetta metalcore?

Well, I wouldn't excactly call either of them metalcore. It's just that, as far as I can tell, there are 3 distinct versions of post-metal. There is the ISIS variant, which is essentially just Oceanic copied over and over again. Then there is the stuff that focuses more heavily on sludge metal with a bit more experimentation (Neurosis, Pelican, Tombs) and then there's the stuff that has a distinctive metalcore influence in addition to a ton of atmospherics , a higher general tempo and some sludge (The Ocean, Rosetta, Blindead and many others).
But nothing is set in stone of course, these are merely observations.

Listening to Empire right now. Reminds me of a The Ocean circa Aeolian with quite a bit of mathcore thrown in there. Sounds suprisingly good.

Actually never listened to that album. Really hard to get into for me, for some reason.

I have only listened to TGS all the way through. I need to get their 2010 release.

Galilean is the best post-metal album, when synced.

Back this this: I actually find myself wanting more cleans. So rare for them to be of this quality in this mix of genres.

Instrumentally this album rules, but those clean vocals don't do it for me at all.

I don't know, it's not that he has a bad voice, that style just sounds so weak compared to everything else on this album.
