i wouldnt call individual thought patterns death metal hawks, it's Death making progressive extreme metal but it defies categorization and certainly shouldn't be lumped under the 'death metal' cliche

Good choice. I'd say Individual Thought Patterns Falls under the category of death metal. Maybe not traditional or old school but it is still a variation of the genre.
