Bought this on tape back in ‘97. Thought is was a massive improvement on King For A Day and my opinion hasn’t changed one jot in quarter of a century.
It depends. First half? Heck yeah it is
Second half? I don't think so. You got paths of glory and pristina though.

KFAD is a classic, but this is still pretty solid. I think its biggest flaw is the second half doesn't flow at all plus there are a couple of subpar tracks, ie "Home Sick Home" and "Got That Feeling" though even that last one is still a good song. Another mistake is having two slow burners too close to each other at the end of the album ("Path of Glory" and "Pristina"), which is probably why some folks find them boring.
Edit** For me it flows better like this:
8. Path of Glory
9. Got That Feeling
10. She Loves Me Not
11. Home Sick Home
12. Pristina

@bananatossing agreed, What I've realized about this album is that FNM pretty much commited to the "one fast and loud song followed by a slower and mellow one" formula, which can make the album a bit predictable, but, it's still a pretty solid and underlooked album nonetheless.

@VlacDrac Exactly. It totally worked for KFAD, but only because those songs are perfect and Mike's vocals were at his peak. This feels like a lesser rehash, but again still solid all around.

Despite it's lounge music vibes Evidence is a masterpiece.

I could not believe how good this was when it came out. A massive step up from King For A Day. I listened to it all the time back in the day.
The magic was still missing though.

In high school FNM were the only band the whole grade could agree on. Def the most agreed band and they were played everywhere you went

The show for this was classic. They came out in suits and launched into Collision. The whole place erupted haha

Yeah, the show for this album was massive. As I remember there were moments 2-3 songs in when I felt I would be crushed by the crowd, but I wouldn't mind it either.
I always thought AOTY was the little sibling to KFAD. The same vibe but less bangers. Still an awesome delivery.

i'm firmly in the "holy shit this is underrated" camp, probably my 3rd fav of theirs, and one of those albums I honestly can't even fathom the negative reviews for. not in a fanboy sense just a genuine "are we listening to the same album?" sense
that said, it does dip a bit toward the end and considering they were sitting on bangers like Big Kahuna & Light Up And Let Go which were simply relegated to b-sides, a little baffling they included some of the tracks they did toward the end - though Home Sick Home is the only one I'd say actually borders on being outright bad. Paths is alright, and I love Got That Feeling
No one's gonna agree with me but in an alternate universe it could have been cool to close on Billy's mix of Pristina which would have brought the Stripsearch "trip hop" vibes back one more time to close the album & give it just that slight bit more connection; I always found it very weird that was the only track like that on the album, and in retrospect that probably made it slightly more disappointing than it otherwise would have been, on first listen
