Keyhole in the sky - what a song. Reminded me a bit of Dredg too with that tremolo part later into the song. On the whole, i liked Eidolon quite a bit more though

Vocal performance on that track is absolutely unreal. Musically, however, I give the edge to Ghosts, it has much more of an identity to it.

Never ceases to amaze me how impassioned the vocal performance on this thing is while spouting absolute bollocks

This is an under-appreciate masterpiece imo, and an album that has aged extremely well.
Also lol to my comment on the first page back in 2009 saying Eidolon was “much better”. Hard disagree with that now. Living As Ghosts comes close and has some very strong moments but this whole album is the band at peak creativity.

Dark Charade is the best song they’ve written imo, and The climax at the end of Landmines is sublime. As a full album though I just prefer the flow of this one.

This is an amazing album indeed. I can't remember last time I was so amazed by the vocals, the sheer energy in them is astounding. From harsh to melodic to incredible high tones - great vocal performance by the singer throughout. I love to pretend to be able to sing along along the climax of Downhill, I feel pretty cool then 😅

The production on this record leaves a great deal to be desired. It's a personal bummer because I know if it sounded better I would enjoy this album so much.

I've never really had too much of a gripe with it. I definitely wouldn't complain if it was a little more grimey but it doesn't offend me at all. What's your gripe with it?

Production’s not the best but it’s not egregiously bad or anything, not enough to blunt this hot songwritin’
|
| |
hell yeah
listening to it for the first time in like 2 years and it's still holding up pretty damn well
only 5 minutes until Downhill and I'm getting ready :]
