As if Abasi only plays prog lol, dude plays fantastic classical guitar, latin influenced stuff, etc. His double thumb technique is really solid and allows him to play some stuff basically making his guitar act as a guitar and bass at the same time. He's a fantastic player, don't think that's up for discussion lol, it was a dumb take

I mean yea those are all great guitarists, but you're acting like it's some competition and just putting other guitarists down who are clearly very skilled. Abasi has definitely deserved all of the praise he's gotten throughout his career, as have those other guitarists

you got short-term memory in what you wrote? being a good guitarist goes beyond what stays recorded on his albums. lot of guitarists would kill to be at his stature right now with how easy it could've been to been 'the next shredder', especially after running with Meshuggah's then-hyped up tones, but instead he obviously studied the greats that you mentioned and further. if you wanna compare musicians like dick sizes with untrained ears and ignorant requisites like "wank shitck" go ahead man there's more to consider when it's just hella hating. lot of guitarists from the 70s, 80s, and 90s had given the man props, and it's better to take it from the people who'd know more.
