"torche was good but it lacked enough diversity to really leave any sort of impact on me. i guarantee you that, as opposed to Y&G, harmonicraft isn't something that i'm gonna remember in 2-3 years."
50 bucks you aren't gonna remember exactly this statement in 2-3 years.
Also, Torche never made long-lasting music - I don't think that was ever their goal. Torche was always about immediate releases of energy, or some might just cal it 'fun'. (not surprising considering their 'huge pop sensibilities')

Whether it was intended to stick with you or not I'll definitely be blasting Meanderthal for the rest of forever, and Floor made enough long-lasting music to make up for what Torche lacks in profundity.
Also Yellow & Green is best Baroness and I'm basically a fanboy thanks to Blue so yeah....

I remember thinking harmonicraft was good for a couple of weeks. If I never heard it again It'd be no skin off my dick. Y&G on the other hand...I'm still wrapping my head around it, and it keeps bringing me back.

Those shitty vocals and ass production really just wet your whistle, eh?

i don't have any problems with the production, what seems to be the problem? vocals were kind of odd at first, and they aren't "good" by any means. but with the harmonies and the music with them, they have started to grow on me a bit and I enjoy the songs as a whole. I'm not saying its aoty, but it's definitely better than harmonicraft, which I did enjoy.

The production is just... odd. The drums stick out too much, there's shitty low end, and what few heavy guitar riffs this album has get drowned in the mix. And they do weird things with Jon's voice on certain points, like on March to the Sea where it's filtered and echoey and just sounds bad.

Listened to a couple tracks this morning on the ride in to work. Drums did stick out quite a bit, and the low end didnt have much of a punch to it, but it was definitely audible. Bass sounds great on the album. I'm pretty sure that whatever production you see as bad, is just what the band was going for. For whatever reason, they didn't want to make a guitar centered/driven album. The guitar is still great, but its not at the forefront. Again, I don't see the production as bad. The album sounds great. I can see your issues with it, but it seems like you're more upset about what the album is not. That being heavier, guitar/riff centered, harsh yelling Baroness of yesteryear. I miss them too. I also happen to like Y&G as well.

Yeah, this is a very consistent album, and a very convincing one that introduced me to the band. In particular 'The sweetest Curse', 'Jake leg' and 'A Horse called Golgotha' are very well composed.
