"Pretty harsh but I agree in thinking that this is the quintessential Korn. Shame too many people only remember them as the wacky Freak on a Leash band. Such is the society that we are living in."
Exactly what I mean, brother. This was THE KoRn album. It sums up the 90s and oughts perfectly. It's nihilistic, confused, angry but unsure what or why, but it isn't a cliche yet. This is the maximum "KoRn" possible. I think Brian has done some commendable work in his side projects, and John has come a long way from Untouchables; Requiem is the album Untouchables SHOULD HAVE been but wasn't. Still - as much as Issues being the finale of KoRn would've been appropriate, seeing them struggle through malaise (and substance abuse, and all sorts of other maladys) and then put out a concise, solid release in 2022 is kind of admirable. Like if Metallica ever stopped sucking cocks (lmao, impossible).

No way, half of this is mid, most of the skits for a start
Debut and FtL are their best
Tbh the best five songs on either of those albums I’d take over the entirety of this in a heartbeat
Might be better than Life is Peachy

‘Falling Away from Me’ and ‘Counting’ are top tier though
‘Beg for Me’ is fun

I would call them interludes instead of skits but I agree they aren't good - this is still their best album imo.

For me:
Blind, Ball Tongue, Need To, Faget, Daddy are better than every song here other than maybe Falling Away from Me
It’s On, Freak on a Leash, Got the Life, Dead Bodies Everywhere, Seed are better than every song here other than maybe Falling Away from Me
Just better highlights on those two. Life is Peachy has Good God and Adidas as top tier so about even on highlights but a scrappier album outside of that (just) and Untouchables has Here to Stay and Blame and again that’s really really scrappy outside of that with some near unlistenable stuff as Jon starts thinking he’s in The Cure or Depeche Mode.
The rest of their discog is mostly blah after that, occasional winning tune only.

you’re realizing people overrate consistency compared to good songs

Sure, there’s an argument Korn are close to a singles band, they’re all about individual highlight songs
Also: Korn were better with a background hip hop aesthetic rather than a background gothic/‘80s pop aesthetic and it was better when Jon didn’t try pop vocals

I think it's pretty good but I agree with Doof that the attempted lighter, more pop stuff doesn't work. Alone I Break is terrible.

Untouchables is unlistenable. Even when it came it and I was a kid in school, pining for new KoRn, I was disappointed by it. It did not age any better than I have. I still think Requiem was a surprisingly tight and enjoyable album considering the gulf between Issues and Requiem.
