for someone that hates it so much you do seem to be abnormally interested in screamo
|
| |
how do you feel about all the generic breakdown-centric 'metalcore' and auto-tune laden 'post-hardcore' bands that are around nowadays? surely the screamo and metalcore of the early 2000s was preferable to this?

honestly the one paved the way for the other. and if some of the earlier bands had been able to half-sing/half-scream more in tune there would have never been the need for cheaply resorting to auto-tuning. the only thing was that the earlier bands wore their incompetence and lo-fi, DIY credentials like a badge of honor and reveled in their own grittiness/shittiness, whereas the newer bands have tried to reduce the earlier music to its simplest formula and add some studio gloss to it
I suppose you're right. I just can't help but feel the older stuff had a little more passion to it, that's something I find a great deal more relatable than the majority of the lifeless garbage floating around nowadays.

I got my physical copy of this in the mail a few days ago. Has the cover that's on here, I think I like the other one better though. Not complaining though, just glad to have it.

how could you like the other one

MJ what's your favorite screamo album serious question

I guess maybe I don't actually, but it's the one I had on my iPod so it was a little off-putting to get the other. Now that I'm comparing the two I think I'm happy with this one. I don't really like the purple on black, but I do really like how it looks wavy if you get what I mean.

your description there makes it sound like at least a 2.5, mj

Wow.
A 2 because you don't like the vocals.
Like seriously honey, we get it, you're not into screaming. Nobody cares.

You don't need to have an outstanding vocalist, especially if they fit the context of the music

I honestly doubt we're going to change his mind no matter what we say

There's no correlation between intellect and human screams and you just threw all credibility out the window by discrediting
an entire genre, that statement epitomizes your ignorance towards it and your skewed perspective; you never intended to
give it a fair chance because you had subconsciously made your mind up before you even played it. Can't believe you just
said that. Remember, we're ONLY human.

i don't see why somebody thinks that an album deserves a 2.5 or a 3 if the music is pretty good but the singing is unforgivably terrible. if a singer was yodeling in the most obnoxious, irritating manner all the way through this album would you have it that high? fuck no. now, this singer's voice, as much as it pisses me off, is nowhere near as godawful as Drew Speziale's
The thing is :gasp: some people enjoy screaming.
Like seriously tranny, we get it, you're not into having a penis. Nobody cares.
haha
Yew really seem hung up on this eh?

Gospel is easily the best screamo act i've heard, mostly because the instrumental aspects are decent and the vocalist doesn't sound like a total bitch
i lol'd

MJ, did it ever occur to you that sometimes screaming can help people achieve a high level of passion in their music? If you don't like that, well, just watch this short video:
