I've heard In Flames is basically the best melodeth has to offer, I liked a few of their albums alright but if they're the cream of the crop or whatever I'm not sure I would enjoy a whole lot more from that area of DM

are some of my favs but you should just check out cookie cutter stuff like slaughter of the soul if you havent heard that

u might dig imsomnium, at the gates, sacrilege, dark tranquility, gates of ishtar, serpent
