Just got this, very good album. May up the rating with more listens. Personally i found the second half to be way stronger than the first half.

I kind of agree with bodominflames - Ants of the Sky, Prequel, and White Walls flex bigger than anything else on the album, but I dont think theyre necessarily better songs than the others. Except for Ants of the Sky, thats just epic.

Ahh i got it this time. Damn near perfect album. White Walls is probably my favorite segment, and then probably either Sun of Nothing or Ants of the Sky. I'm gonna have trouble deciding if this is my favorite album of 07, Amorphis, or DTark Tranquillity.

BTBAM is a funny band, because this is basically how they come across to me:
"Let's take the most talented musicians the mainstream has ever seen and just play noise half the time!"
I love BTBAM because they have the ability to write some of the most beautiful and challenging music ever written, but sometimes the moment is killed by pointless shred and blastbeats... thats the only reason that this record isn't a 5 for me. otherwise it damn well would be.

This gets better with each listen....i've decicded this is my favorite album of the year. I struggle lto ind any flaws, i even enjoy the pointless polka/redneck bridges.
If I didnt just get Lateralus by Tool (which is even better than this imo) this would probably be the only thing i'd be listening to for a while, maybe with some amorphis and swallow the sun mixed in (but only because i just got the albums)

You know what is the weakness of this album?
It lacks more parts like the 10:55 to 14:13 of White Walls.
That part is just eargasmic in every sense of the word. Some more parts like that and I would have given this a 5. That is like 3 minutes, 7 more minutes like that in the album would have been enough for me.

Hate to be this late to the game, but omg is Ants completely ruined by that banjo part. I know it's all been said before but I wanna say it again.
They should have just gone right into the power ballad solos in that song really. Album kinda bores me after a little bit, and I end up just skipping to Ants and then White Walls. I'll rate this later.

No that's pretty true. The banjo part sucks, the "we like mr bungle let's copy them" parts are stupid.
