Il "death metal" e` stato in effetti l'invenzione privata di Schuldiner, che cercava semplicemente una forma artistica in cui esprimere la sua tormentata (ma tutt'altro che esibizionista o sensazionalista) personalita`. Tutti i dischi dei Death sono in effetti dei dischi solisti di questo Nietzsche dell'heavymetal, determinato ad esplorare i recessi piu` depravati dell'animo umano. I suoi riff scolpiti nella carne e i suoi vocalizzi sgolati hanno creato uno stereotipo universale.

El mastodonte, el grupo progresivo del lodo que formó en 1999 en Atlanta, Georgia de metal, toma un riesgo enorme cuando lanzan la montaña de la sangre. En un mundo donde están los géneros el punky y el punk rock del estallido dominantes de la música, un álbum progresivo/del lodo del metal no puede ser la mejor opción para un grupo que intenta fama entre el público americano, pero el mastodonte prueba claramente este mal de la declaración con el lanzamiento de este álbum verdaderamente incredible. El mastodonte puede ser el teatro ideal siguiente.
