I mean, the album certainly isn't without flaws. There's so many riffs that are way too similar to other Tool songs, and some of the songs meander for too long. They do great with the build-up on every song, but the climaxes could be much better. I also think Maynard's vocals are lacking compared to 10k days or Lateralus.



There's only two songs I really find amazing here, although Descending is starting to get there too. So I can kinda see why people may think less of this, but I don't think any song on here is bad.

The album shows their age. There's an honesty to it. They're not young and jacked up on hormones like they use to be. There's a letting go... an ease. And they've done it well.
