I used to dig this one a lot more than I do now tbh. Although I will say learning the riffs from Spirit Crusher made me feel like a guitar god early on in learning how to play. I wonder if Death would have stuck with this kind of sound and dove deeper into it if they continued or went for the back to basics route. Wish I was around to see how this was received back when it dropped

prob continued, chuck was getting into more into prog metal himself (as you can tell from the fact that a lot of this album's moments sound like worse versions of shit that other bands were doing 8+ years prior)
also control denied, nuff said

True, true. I always forget about Control Denied. Been ages since I even jammed a track from it. I was a complete Chuck fanboy when I was rating like a madman on here so I probably have it rated 4.5 or something but I don't recall jamming it much at all lol. gonna go back and see where I sit with it tho
Edit: surprisingly didn't have it rated at all but jamming now and man instrumentally it sounds a whole lot like this honestly. Feel like it's a step down though in some ways

"check The Last Things"
Amazing band.

always liked -and remembered- it for the "Van der Graaf Generator moments" on that album (Circles and Butterflies)
...with that said though, no idea why someone would compare it to this as a rec for someone? No hate, just totally left field to me haha

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche is a well-known philosopher from the nineteenth century who, in a way or another, revolutionized the way of thinking about God, about religion, faith and the overall way of thinking of a lot of people. With affirmations in the lines of "God is dead", many people thought he was out of his mind or a complete freak.
