Nah he had that quality before he got hooked. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think He was on heroin when facelift came out

Umm, you know they're joking right? Go watch AiC Unplugged and tell me if you think Heroin addiction made Layne a better vocalist.

He actually forgot some of the lyrics during the unplugged.

By the way, the last pictures of Layne are quite disturbing specially how fucked up that guy was

And a better lyricist. Until of course Layne's death hit Jerry and he started to write lyrics like Layne used to which is a HUGE improvement over his lyrics about relationships.

Thank god Jerry improved after Layne's death. Before that, he was doing stupid shit like praising nickelback and perfoming with them

"To say that heroin didn't have a part in Layne's vocal delivery as well as his songwriting is absurd."

Heroin, or rather his addiction to it, may have influenced his songwriting, sure. But to say that it somehow improved his vocal power, delivery, ear for melody and emotiveness while singing means you probably have a shaky understanding of how either singing or heroin work.

While heroin addiction may have influenced AiC's music, Layne's greatness as a vocalist was in spite of his addiction and not because of it.

I've never heard of heroin being the reason to someone's vocal ability

You know what he means. The suicidal drug vibes are all over Layne's performance. DuVall only has the technique.

I still don't like that they put would as the closer of the album, the ending of the song makes me feel empty

I used to feel the same Rod but I've come around to it as a closer. Always loved the song though.

Much more tolerable than Facelift. I'm struggling to get through this discography but on to the next album. Might be safe to say AIC aren't for me, which is all good.

Black Gives Way to Blue is similar, it's definitely intended

Even Nickelback loves AiC unabashedly. Don't blame them for this.
