Damn Zak how you putting Come As You Are as the worst on this - heard it too many times?

Straight off the bat it never did anything for me, I appreciate it but it’s a bit drab.
This is how I’ve always felt about the album.
Smells Like Teen Spirit - An absolute revelation
In Bloom - Explosive Rock
Come As You Are - Drab
Breed - Full on
Lithium - The life changer
Polly - Lovely pace changer
Territorial Pissings - Representative
Drain You - Definitive pop rock
Lounge Act - Affirming
Stay Away - Teen Angst
On A Plain - Sensitive
Something in the Way - Amazing closer.

Lounge Act is the best deep cut off of this
or Endless Nameless if you feel like screaming at the walls

"I now get told by people who are 25yrs younger than me and who 5 Pokémon soundtracks that I’m wrong about this band."

The first three songs on this blew my mind at the time (loved the intro to 'In Bloom'), I think for the first couple of weeks when I didn't have the album myself yet most of the time that's as far as people played during breaks at school. They did the job though.
So 'Come As You Are' is weaker than the first two but still essential for me.
I'm a philistine - I prefer the new wave Polly from 'Incesticide' - find the touchy feely acoustic version a bit of a bore in these surroundings. Kurt sells it better than most would be able to but still definitely the weakest tune for me.

Yeah Polly was always about the darkness, the danger.

Thought I’d give this a listen this morning in light of past reflections.
What an absolutely monumental record. Amazing stuff.
The most exciting album of my lifetime.
I can still feel the encroaching dread I felt walking to school tied to when I listen to this classic.
The Smiths do it as well but I was a tad too late to actually live it/experience it as it was happening.
This on the other hand was the album of its day without question.

Stay Away is easily the worst here imo, and probably the only song here that I listen to only if i'm jamming the album in full. Still a good song though.

The back and forth and pounding rhythm on that has always done it for me but yeah i I can understand people thinking it’s the worst here definitely

Stay Away does kinda ruin what would have been a stellar last 5 track run. Heaps of tracks could have subbed on, including Endless Nameless

Old Age is a great (albeit unfinished) track that could have been on here and been a big hit imo

The only one I’m thinking is a polished Spank Thru but that would still put the whole album out of whack.
