I was simply stating my general opinion, rising to the bait would involve launching a tirade of abuse & the would-be perpetrator resulting in making myself look foolish.

"I can't remember who it was (Mayhem perhaps) but some guy just came in laying claim to the Sput. Opeth fanboy title & everyone had a good chuckle. By everyone I mean it was probably just me that noticed."
It was mayhem yeah

"Anyone that criticises an entire fan-base & thinks their assumptions can be justified is at best terribly misguided & at worst a complete idiot."
This is objectively incorrect sorry buddy. Some fanbases are pure dumpster fires with barely any redeeming qualities (not saying Opeth's is one). As for who is the trve Opeth Sput fanboy Pleb is the OG and Mayhem is the new breed they can both exist in harmony :]

Mayhem is cool, the band and the user.

Pleb is cooler, both the user and the band.

'Some fanbases are pure dumpster fires with barely any redeeming qualities'
I would love to see a list of fanbases you think fit this criteria. And not just blatant neo-Nazi groups, or others with similarly questionable morals as they're the only one which spring to mind.

@Demon: Dir en Grey, the Gazette and the Steven Universe fandom are the main three I can think of.

They have fanbases? Ok, I'll rephrase this... you are AWARE of their fanbases, where do you get this information?

I love Opeth as much as the next guy, but how people think this is anywhere near their best is mind boggling.
This album's saving grace is the fact that the title track, The Lepar Affinity and Harvest are absolutely incredible tracks. The rest is a snoozefest.
Dirge of November has that BEAUTIFUL intro and then turns insanely dull.
Everyone fiving this, can you really say the album is flawless?
Pleb, you know that's a fanboy rating bro.
Again, I absolutely adore Opeth, seen them live a bunch of times and they will probably remain my favourite band until I pop my cloggs.

Except The Drapery Falls and Bleak are two of their best songs. Only thing even close to a dud here is Funeral Portrait.

You think? Bleak is tedious! Very repetitive.
To each their own I suppose.
