Justice is better for many reasons. the songwriting is more complex, the performances are more mature and the band is an unbelievably tight-knit unit. However, the production holds it back a lot, and Burton's presence is sorely missed. I'd say it's tied with this, maybe a bit weaker.

I don't think anyone who likes And Justice for All can credibly state a lack of bass presence, especially on this album. It's fine. Honestly, Cliff doesn't stand out as much on Master either.

Cliff has Orion on MoP though - easily his finest moment.

I really wish he had more consistent bass presence as most of what is usually past around are just the instrumentals.

He had way more presence than Jason and Rob ever did, at least on the albums. Maybe not so much on Kill but definitely on here and Master

that's because Cliff was the only bassist Metallica ever gave a chance to. Jason and Rob are pretty much glorified bassists-for-hire

Had it not been for the production, then AJFA would be my favorite.
Otherwise RTL >>> AJFA = MOP

Yeah i kinda do too, but the difference is too small to say i like Justice definetly more because MOP's production is pretty damn great

The production on Justice just doesn't bother me enough I guess. Most songs on that album are more interesting imo. Master drags too much

I think my near constant irrational stress has finally physically manifested itself as a chronic neck pain. This is a scary thought, considering I am only in my mid 20s.

Talking to old farts about this album made me realize how much Metallica was adored and respected by the old school before their demise.

Yeah and that's the respect they should still hold, who gives a fuck what came after? They could release 10 albums as bad as Lulu and kill a baby and I would still be eternally indebted to them for their 1983-1991 output. Easily one of the greatest and most consistent musical peaks for a band ever.
