BWP is an amazing album, but this thing is just immense. Besy atmosphere on any Opeth album. Their earlier albums just stand out above the rest, not including Ghost Reveries which is my second fav.

Atmosphere wise, either this or Morningrise is the crown gem in their discog, But yeah gotta agree with you there. Opeth's early stuff is the bands high point.

I see Orchid the way you see BWP Evan, a lot of very strong moments but not amazing all the way through, not to mention it's their most amateurish sounding. My favorite aspect is probably the acoustic sections.

The sound was so unique for that time period though. Not too many bands doing this type of music at that point.
Plus it was the rawest Opeth has ever sounded. Amateurish, maybe a little, but it's still an amazing album.
