@Titan Andy LaRocque is the shit yeah, love his style

The guitar trade-offs between him and Chuck are insane, definitely a huge part of why I like this album so much.

Honestly I’ve started to like this more than symbolic these days, maybe it’s just cause I listened to symbolic so much growing up and slept on the rest of their shit

I feel like it's easy to overlook this one, esp being released in between Human and Symbolic.

This has been my favorite Death for a while now, but my ranking for their other albums tends to change with time.

It's probably the discog ranking I've shuffled around the most over the years, and a good four or five of their albums have all taken the top spot at some point. Just goes to show how incredible their discog is

Nevermore is another band that comes to mind in that regard. With the exception of The Obsidian Conspiracy and maybe the s/t, I could see any of their other albums being someone's favorite by them. Everything from Politics of Ecstasy to This Godless Endeavor absolutely rips

The only thing I dislike about this album, even with all the various remaster attempts over the years, is the production. It still bothers me on every listen

Give this album the production treatment that Human or Symbolic got and it would take it to another level

I got used to the production over time, but yeah, I think Symbolic is the gold standard of production/mixing in Death's discog. TSoP sounds good too, but with that increased budget from Nuclear Blast, it almost sounds too polished. Symbolic sits right in the middle of raw and polished, creating a perfect balance of the two
