Pneuma is great! Minus the periodic high frequency sound near the end of it. Fuck that.



I love every song here, actually. I just can't seem to up the rating because of some gripes with the mastering of this thing (i.e., really noticeable clipping, sound errors, etc.). Or maybe the issues happened at an earlier level.

I agree. neuma and 7empest were the standouts to me on first listen but then Descending began growing on me and now the entire back half of the album is completely gripping to me.

this album is fucking packed full of riffs that are insanely similar to something off Lateralus. Descending is straight up interpolating both The Grudge and Reflection at points. Plus Pneuma also has a break straight out of The Patient as well as Schism

in Invincible yeh. In Jones' defense, that weird triplet technique he uses there only works particularly well on the third fret so i can see why he keeps doing it

I find it to be consistently good throughout, but my favorite run on it is Pneuma-Invincible-Descending. So middle is best imo.

Culling Voices and 7empest feel a little weaker to me than what precedes them so I'd say it's more front-heavy. But I have also spent least time with those songs because, being at the end, I don't get that far as often lol.
