He has progressed but he's getting out-classed by people like Justin Bonitz

Justin is a beast on screaming, but Spencer got the cleans that works for the band

Both are extremely talented but they're so different that it's kinda stupid to compare them imo.

super unpopular opinion but spencer is by far my fave vocalist in the djent-core scene.

everybody else is so one-note but spencer can do everything at a high level i feel like (in the studio at least) and has far more personality than nearly all his contemporaries... and i feel like that's one of/if not the biggest reason why periphery is the biggest band doing this sound, dude just stands out in a scene full of interchangeable cogs

only other guy who stands out anywhere near as much is jesse from erra

Chris Barretto on Ever Forthright, first Tesseract LP Dan Tompkins, and the dudes from Fellsilent are the peak of the genre, everything else is butt by comparison

@Alex

Spencer used to struggle live but now he's almost as good as in the studio. Also I agree 100%, Spencer is a beast and has become part of why I love Periphery compared to the first album where I kind of just tolerated him.

Spencer has been solid live for about the past decade. I've seen some patchy early performances, but most everything I've seen since at least 2014 has been on point.

@peartnoy

Super easy to compare Justin and Spence. Sooo many parallels. Spencer can belt sing and sing tastefully and even that is debated, but he's got that on Justin.

Go listen to Telescope by Tallah (again?) and you'll hear the similiarties, albeit inspiration.

both vocalists apparently worship Corey Taylor for some reason, also

If you see on all of the band member's Instagrams, you can hear snippets of there new album.
From what I'm hearing, it sounds like Periphery alright

The snippets we hear before the albums are released never really impress me to be honest. Without context it means very little.

Is "Djent is not a genre" actually the title or is someone trolling here? Lmao nonetheless

Album art looks sick and holy shit that title. I hope it's not the official title, but it's clever either way.
I have a feeling it's going to suck, which means it's probably going to be a banger for everyone
