also Kid A when it was released was objectively groundbreaking for the mainstream deal with it

I know I'm likely to get spat on for bringing them up but lets not forget Pantera's decision to release two utterly abrassive records (FBD and TGST) at the peak of their popularity (they actually reached number 1 on the billboard 200 charts for a couple of weeks) when they could have stuck to catchy thrash/groove that could've maximized their radio play and their $. For a mainstream band thats an infinitely more drastic jump then from Neverming to In Utero

Beach Boys' Party! to Pet Sounds to Smiley Smile was a pretty huge mainstream jump

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Take Them On, On Your Own to Howl was a massive contrast in styles but that is honestly the only one I can think of at the min and it doesn't come close.

Devin Townsends musical output is all over the place and Opeth changed their sound a few times especially when they went chill with Damnation and later when they went full prog tribute act but I agree with Zak nothing I can think of comes close to the leap from OKC to KA

@theBoneyKing Yeah I know. I didn't want to say Kid A is not adventurous for the mainstream (i still wouldn't call it "drastic"), just that it is not the album that is the most so or exclusively so, as zak stated.

@Talons I don't think In Utero is really that far from Nevermind. It's a bit more abrasive but still rather catchy & songs. Definitely wouldn't compare it to Kid A/OK Computer.

@Pots Learn 2 read.

The jump from Ok Computer to Kid A is kind of like the jump from Station to Station to Low in a way
