i used to think it was maynard who wasn't making progress with the album, not the opposite. why is this band so confusing?

It's called deception, and some might consider it as an art.

I'll just be happy if APC and/or Tool release an album of new material by 2020.

haha I guess my comment sounded a bit dramatic. I just meant that's all I ask, that just one of them comes through but obviously both would be amazing.

The Tool album is going to be insane when it's finished. 10000 Days still hasn't gotten old for me to this day. I'm much more worried about APC because so much time has gone by and it won't be the same without Jeordie. I'm worried about the continuity of that band. I'm dying for more Howerdel though, that guy is a guitar god. He has such lovely and unique phrasing.

And now that James Iha has returned to the pumpkins, the album has been compromsed even more.

Yeah new Tool will be amazing for sure. None of their albums have gotten old for me after 10 years of listening.

I'm not the least bit worried about APC b/c By and Down is excellent, and the new songs they've been playing live (Feathers and Hourglass) sound fantastic.

Both bands each have another record left in their contracts, so they have to come through SOME time. Expecting one to be released before the next decade is pretty reasonable expectations I think.

everyone seems absolutely convinced a new Tool album will be amazing... just because it's Tool? just because it's taking so long?

Sounds like another potential Chinese Democracy to me. Just with Tool.

The people convinced that the new Tool will be amazing are the ones who love 3 or all of their records, so there's no reason to doubt its quality. Also they've been working on it for nearly a decade, so there's been a lot of craft and care into making it.

Comparing them to Guns n' Roses, a fantastic and very important but also flawed and pretty inconsistent band, with a mentally ill frontman running the show for two decades is hardly a fair comparison at all.

Since theyre taking their sweet ass time it better beat the hell out of 10,000 Days of Filler thats all Im sayin. Anything less than the greatest album of the 2010's will be a disappointment!
