My favourites are Neurosis, ISIS and The Ocean. Cult of Luna are cool though never could properly get into them. Used to love Rosetta but they honestly went to shit after their first of albums for me.

Amazing subgenre but saturated with meh.
That's hardly unique though.

I feel like re: patience, it's sometimes not immediately obvious which post-metal is great and which is mid. Even the classics can take a while to fully reveal themselves.

I should do another discog run on these guys. So fucking good, though. I feel like I owe it to myself and ISIS to listen to Wavering Radiant and In the Absence… a few more times. Loved both but really having trouble remembering much of them. I spun the fuck out of Oceanic and Panopticon, gotta spread the love though.

ISIS are possibly my most listened to band. I regularly spin this, Oceanic, ITAOT and Wavering Radiant. Whilst I love Celestial too, I don't return to it as much as the aforementioned albums.
One of the most engaging bands to ever exist.

They've come in waves for me over the last several years. Sometimes I'll go months without listening to them. Some months I listen to an hour of Isis every day.

preserving greatness or something, but then remembering occasionally to treat yourself.
even though ISIS are in an absurdly small category of metal bands I would gladly listen to in pretty much any situation, I try and not put them on 'mindlessly', because there's more disposable music for those purposes

Still pissed we can't buy official merch with the band name on it... They should release that bootleg shirt that had the phrase "ISIS was a band first!" as an official merch item with the album cover or something.

Some distros have the official license to sell Isis merch. Ever since the other Isis started to go viral a lot of Isis themed merch (if not all) was removed...

There is/was even reddit threads with stories about Isis merch problems in real life situations. From being retained at the airport to literally losing a job. It was insane.

Yeah pretty crazy that people would confuse the two especially with it being ISIL officially but the news media just ran in the other direction with it. Plus Isis was an Egyptian goddess so like...give the brand back
