Ha, his favourite is 'Milk It' - an anti Foo Fighters song if I ever heard one.
If someone said that's their favourite Nirvana tune I'd definitely think 'you're trying really hard here my dude...'
I mean, he was in the band so fair play.

'Why doesn't he like it? It's a great song, that baseline is fantastic.'
He said it was a conscious filler track...fast forward to Foo Fighters album number six or seven and yup. Lot of it about.

Milk It is the best song on In Utero

It's a bit of an 'atypical song' flex - like saying your favourite Motorhead song was the one ballad they did or something like that.
It's a great track but kinda unique and for Grohl to pick it is a bit 'yeah man, I wish Nirvana had been more out there and heavier woah'...and then releasing three hundred mainstream radio songs with Foo Fighters.
maybe I'm reading too much into this...

It really isnt a flex tho, its genuinely one of the most aggressive and engaging songs they've done. The noisier, less melodic moments on that album are the prime reason its my favorite Nirvana LP

Grohl generally downplays his Nirvana legacy and for him to say the most crazy and heavy Nirvana song is his favourite - but then releases absolute mainstream GUFF with the Foo Fighters - is annoying to me I dunno
I'm not reading into anyone else saying it's their favourite (although I would say it was a better song live so the studio version I don't think I'd pick as a favourite Nirvana song...)

Okay I'll agree there, coming from Grohl who has openly admitted that he writes Foo Fighters music using practically the same formula each time, its kinda like "..really?"
tho its not totally surprising that a song from In Utero is one of his favorites, I've heard/read that little bits of the writing process were done by Dave and Krist. Scentless Apprentice for example, the drum line was conceived by Grohl

Milk it is peak nirvana. If it's grohl's fave it shows how little he must care about what he's doing now

Still can't get over how overrated the latest Foo Fighters album was on here

Best song on here is Lithium but that is pure unfettered nostalgia talking, I cannot see past it.
Bleach - School
In Utero and the best Nirvana song of them all- Radio Friendly Unit Shifter.
Incesticide - Aneurysm

In Utero - Pennyroyal Tea
Incesticide - Mexican Seafood
Worst song it’s a toss up between Endless Nameless or Galleons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip

Bleach - Negative Creep (best), Swap Meat (worst)
Nevermind - Lounge Act (best), Polly (worst)
In Utero - Frances Farmer (best), Tourette’s (worst)
Incesticide - Aneurysm (best), Mexican Seafood (worst)

I may as well reveal a bit of my real life history here for a laugh but here we go.
In 1989 my Grandad died, he was a massive influence in me life and when he carked it a massive sense of confusion and melancholy crept in. It remains to this day tbh.
Around the same time my cousin was shot for being a ‘grass’ lost an arm as a result and nearly died. It added to the confusion and many questions being asked but from that day I think I took a subconscious decision to tread the right path. Be good. I try to, to this day.
Again around 1990 me uncle offed himself and me mum had an almighty breakdown/religious mania type thing. I thought the world was going to end. Terrifying it was for a 10/11 year old.
Shortly after me best mate passed his eleven plus. I was thick as shite which meant we were going to separate schools. I was absolutely gutted.
This album came out.
Kurt killed himself and I was gutted.
The parasites came in, rebellion as marketing folly.
I listen to this band to this day.
They are the greatest of what they are. Nothing has ever come close to what this band were.

I now get told by people who are 25yrs younger than me and who 5 Pokémon soundtracks that I’m wrong about this band.
