The comparison is because I like everything aesthetically and ancillary to the songs. From the iconic black and white image to the title Spiderland and use of the The Rime of the Ancient Mariner in that one track. I also do like the songs, but there's something that keeps me from fully connecting with them, they feel impenetrable at times. Or maybe it's just because this album makes me feel queasy (literally/physically) for some reason. Anyway, I have similar feelings toward Blade Runner.
Also 3.5 isn't a bad score.

I was impressed the first time around, yet it was more of a ‘woah what’s this, seems interesting, let’s keep listening and see what happens’ kind-of-deal. After giving it more time this initial intrigue mutated into affection.
