I always come into to this album like "This is the listen that will make me bump it to a 5!", and then it just doesn't happen.

Used to be a 5 for me. Deftones just don't hit me as hard as they did when I was younger

If "Mein", "Xerces" and "Pink Cellphone" were taken out this would be one of their best albums. Unfortunately, though, those tracks drag it down quite a bit.

The riff in mein rules, xerces is heaven and pink cellphone is cool even if the speech goes on a bit too long

The riff in "Mein" is cool enough but the vocal melodies are really boring and repetitive. As for "Xerces", I'm completely indifferent to it. It would be way better to have "U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select,Start" go straight into "Rats!Rats!Rats!"

I dig the melodies even if serg doesn't really add much to the song. My only slight gripe with Xerces is there is a few parts I wish they would of cut Chino out and just let the instrumental ride.

There is a sweet live song they played and demoed during this era called "Finger of Death" it could of easily taken the place of Pink Cellphone.

C'mon, BiggiePleb. Ya' know ya' want to.

@Ocean: The interlude transitioning into "Xerces" is majestic fucking bliss. Plus, it's one of their best tracks! I used to be very ehh about "Mein" but it grew on me over time. I've already stated my stance on "Pink Cellphone" a few pages ago, but again, the last quarter of the song is what really makes it drag imo. But to each their own, just giving you my stance as a whole. haha

Idk, this album is just one of those perfect late-nighter albums, y'know? Like tonight. Gonna jam this while staring at the stars. May fat Chino bless you all on the Earth.

@BallsDeep: I swear I had a dream a few weeks ago and "Xerces" was playing.

I just can't imagine this record without Xerces, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to try it out that way. ha

As stated before, I love Xerces to death. A user said that they'd love to see the instrumental transition into Rats!Rats!Rats! right away, instead. So, I'm going to give it a shot.
