Is it tool replaceable? Absolutely, it's called mastodon.

well a new Disillusion album is actually likely to happen in this lifetime
can't say I'm anxious at all for new Tool anymore. If it happens, great, if not then I'll just go on with my life as I've done for the past 10+ years

"It will happen man, the 3 are doing shit that Maynard can't control and it frustrates him. Now the pressure is on them, and has been for years. "is it gonna suck? Can we top our last album? will people report us?""
This was from the interview he did with Rogan, right? What confuses me is why isn't he involved more with the writing process aside from his vocals and lyrics? It's not like the guy hasn't written music before. Has Tool's writing process always kept him out of the equation until it was time to write vocal melodies? It makes it seem like he's not very close with them.

The dude is a visionary, but he's also an absolute tool.

I thought he said in that same interview that he's been involved with writing the music on many of the songs on the new album.

The music is always written and then he puts the lyrics/melodies over the music. He doesn't write much ahead of time from he says; he waits until he can feel out the music and then put content to it. In essence, his hands are tied by the other 3 guys right now taking so long to create.

I'd have to watch it again but I don't remember that. I recall him basically saying "well I get it- it takes them time to create together and sometimes it isn't fast. I'm just waiting on them and have other creative outlets I can work on in the meantime."

That's the main point he made about the update for the new album but I'm almost positive that he's also involved with writing the music in some capacity, but it is mostly those three guys who do the main work with that.

idk it makes sense to me that Maynard isn't involved in writing music for Tool
