In any case, I think he wanted to focus more on Control Denied than Death after this album was done

“I do remember reading that Chuck apparently wrote some of the songs for Control Denied but then "Deathized" them and put them on TSOP instead”
This is true. Chuck had grown tired of harsh vocals and planned Symbolic to be the final Death album. The record label (Nuclear Blast?) agreed to fully finance CD on the condition that Chuck make one final Death album, and that he could do anything he wanted. So Chuck wrote a few new jams and used some CD songs (Bite The Pain, A Story To Tell, A Moment of Clarity).

"Chuck had grown tired of harsh vocals"
Could that explain the vocals on this album? mb

It probably explains the Painkiller vox at the very least

I was always kinda bummed that Chuck didn't just do his own clean vocals for Control Denied though. I heard the demos and his voice was way more appealing than Tim's

He had always envisioned fronting clean vocals in a band one day. I’m not sure why exactly he brought Tim Aymar onboard. I’ve always speculated his battles with cancer had something to do with it

Man... all I can say is that if they brought in Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian to do the vocals on Fragile Art of Existence, that would immediately shoot the album up from a 4 to a 4.5 for me

It's starting to grow on me. Still quite a step down from Symbolic imo
