Solitude as well. Nice mellow and warm track, especially compared to the dry distorted tone on here

"I miss the blues influence that old school metal had. Added soul and character to the music, rather than just trying to be as heavy as possible"
it's been said by many musicians before, that once you completely strip the blues element out of metal just for innovation's sake, the music looses some part of its integrity and identity, so yes, that assumption is totally correct

I never get tired of playing that riff in front of a few friends on my 30 watt amp. Imagine how Iommi feels when he plays that riff and the wall of sound that comes from all of these beautiful 100 watt laney amps, comes crushing down on the heads of thousands of people.

@rock: JEALOUS THAT YOU CAN PLAY IT!! Must feel so badass. Dude imagine when this was released, heads must have exploded globally. Heavy, sinister, yet with depth.
The band member chemistry is just incredible, especially Tony and Geezer. Those two were born to play together. Two sides of the same coin

Prime example of doom done wrong. Where are the good riffs? There are none, some are even too 'happy.' There is no atmosphere, no emotional response, no gloom and certainly no doom... The music is mindless, monotonous, dull, bland, etc.
If you don't manage to to die of boredom from the 11 minute opening track, the next one will surely do you in. It's a shame, because the beginning of the song sounds promising, then it goes to shit.
The band tries to mix it up with some flute and keys on the final track but it still ends up sucking.
Cathedral are basically playing as slow as possible and then passing it off as doom. Every song just drags and drags. Lee Dorian's vocals are uninteresting and don't help at all.
Painful listen.
Want some real doom? Check Trouble.

into the void is the best song here but i'd argue my favorite part is the soloing on lord of this world on top of one of the best melodic bass riffs ever from geezer
