i assumed the tagline was a reference to the actual big bang theory...as in, the believed model of the current universe.....as if to imply 'Spiderland' begun the inception of modern post-rock.
(but surely 'Spirit of Eden' was an earlier precursor than this.)

Hah I thought of the show first. The big bang theory is hated by many, and the phrase "The X of Y" is a common one-liner used to slate something.
