on my third listen through Villains.. half of it is composed of inane dance punk made by a 50-year old man.. evil has landed has some nice guitar-work coursing through it.. fortress has amazing atmosphere.. they ruin the end of villains of circumstance by making it burst into more of that neutered electronic drivel.. the entire album just sounds so clipped, devoid of balls.. bad.. I didn't want it to be.. key in idiotic buzz-phrases like 'this is the album they needed to make' etc. bad

The main problem with the new one is surprisingly not the production, but almost every song sounds unfinished and stops the second it gets more interesting (apart from Fortress, The Evil Has Landed and maybe the closer)

But hey, only heard it once.

"almost every song sounds unfinished"

this, considering more than half of them clock in at more than 5 minutes..

People complaining about production listening to a low quality leak...

Jesus, didn't even noticed that actually.

But it may grow on me hard just like this one did.

"People complaining about production listening to a low quality leak..."
But.. Yeah.. Got nothing on that.. I didn't complain tho.

If you listen to the official version of "The Way You Used To Do" they released a while ago, and then play the same song on the leaked album, the quality difference is laughable.

A higher quality leak might show up at some point, but who knows.

That's the one I am looking forward to hearing the most (although I don't know jack shit about the rest of the songs, to be fair)

Agreed, that build up is fantastic. Now I get why it wasn't released as a single. Would've spoiled that cinematic opening anyway.

Fuck my opinion from one hour ago, I actually like it.

Only meh tracks are Domesticated Animals and Haunted House.

Hard to rank the songs after just one listen but Domesticated Animals might be one of my favorites. Haunted House is probably one of the weaker one's though.
