This album is twelve pounds of cheddar cheese, drizzled with cheese sauce and served with a side of feta

nowadays "cheesy" is often used for something simply being very atmospheric and/or emotional, so from that point of view this is very cheesy.

Mainly in the yearning acoustic guitar chords and the self-serious atmosphere. Also, A Desolation Song's lyrics. I still very much dig this it's just kinda hilarious too

yeah I'm not saying that's a good way to use the word, it just strikes me that people keep calling something "cheesy" as soon as it has any kind of ambition/atmosphere. it's really bothersome, too.

People don't just call anything with an atmosphere cheesy on sput, not unless it's way too over-the-top

I'm all for ambition and atmosphere, and I'm glad this album has it in spades. Artists of any medium seem too cynical to delve into those these days, everything has to be self-aware and fragmented. This album just crosses the threshold into silliness at a few points imo

It's cheesy, but it's in the right context of cheesiness.
