46 & 2 is ingrained in the common subconscious. Not analyzing its meaning is actually beneficial for the shadow work.

sounds like a bit of an overstatement, I mean it's just a Tool song that happens to get radio play (or I remember it used to get radio play on the hard rock stations at least)(which I don't listen to anyways - being in control of what I listen to eliminates any "overplayed" sentiment unless I myself am the one overplaying it?)... not sure what is problematic about the meaning I mean isn't it just a song about like... personal growth? (isn't that also like a theme of the album as a whole?) o no it didn't tell me step by step exactly how to make all my dreams come true I hate it
as for the chromosome shit, if that's what the problem is for folks... I mean I'm not really sure it is necessarily even positing what you think it is in regards to that... I guess it's not possible to ever be certain since Keenan and this band are known for not expounding on the lyrics but I doubt the guy actually thinks that an individual can truly like... what... manifest or evolve an additional two chromosomes or something like that... ie. it's not literal

Fuck naysayers, 46 & 2 goes hard even after all these years.
I will say though that Pushit is still the best song off this album. Especially the version off of Salival.

comparing closers. Third eye goes so hard and then you have tempes7... it really shows how out of ideas tool are, and tool is my favourite band.

Best Tool album forever. Pushit is their best song without a doubt

Honestly disagree, Descending, Culling Voices, and Tempest are all very good imo, the other three are the audio equivalent of ambien

^ Adore Descending (best thing on the album), Culling Voices, not so much.

I think Culling Voices could’ve benefited from some trimming (like the title track, and especially Pneuma and Invincible) but I kinda like the meditative feel it brings before Tempest pops off

Only essential Tool.
In 1996 aged 16 this would definitely have made my top 10 albums.

Lateralus is equally as essential
Can’t reall argue against that for what can be argued for this

I would agree it’s just personal preference at this point for me.
Maaaaaybe Lateralus like, front to back, is a bit more cohesive and feels like the “better album”, a more complete package, yeah it’s Lateralus. But pound for pound song for song, Aenima has it beat. Eulogy, H, Pushit, Third Eye… I would take those over most of Lateralus.
This thing just has too many goddamn throwaway tracks. Yeah, a satanic cookie recipe in German, wow cool. A baby crying, fucking lightning and static for minutes on end. Fuck off will all that shit.
