Heir Apparent might actually be Mikael's best harsh performance, agreed.

Oh his growls are a different story. He's perfect in any era of their music.

It's weird how it took Mikael until SL to actually become a decent clean singer though.

Weirder still that this album actually has his most effective clean vocals.

(even if they were technically better on later albums.)

Yea well I wasn't talking most effective. If we're talking about that his most effective goes to BWP for me.

This has to be his all round best vocal performance for me.

I think his harsh vox peaked at Deliverance/Ghost Reveries, but his clean vox are definitely best on this record

I think his cleans peaked during BWP and his harsh vocals peaked on GR/Watershed

This album has his best harsh vocals overall since they're a kind of middle ground between the higher vocals of the earlier albums, and the lower growls of the later albums.

For me, Deliverance has the most wicked harsh vocals though.

Agree with beef. Love the vocals here because they still have some of the bm influence from the first 2
