also like, yeah, duh, "by and down" is such a weird phrase for them to have accidently used twice in their song titles anyway, but especially considering how close together they were released in context of their career

Maynard's vocals are still excellent of course. New album is really good so far, around 3.5-4 rating range for me atm.

Don't know why they simplified the drumming further in By and Down the River. The drumming overall could be more varied. It'd be a little too similar in every song if the compositions were more conventional, but thankfully Maynard and Billy kept the songwriting diverse and unpredictable enough.



I wasn't so sure about So Long, but as I predicted it works with the track listing as a sarcastically upbeat song coming after the heavier, more pessimistic The Doomed, both basically dealing with the same themes in different ways.
